Self‑Proclaimed Tantrik Claims to Reveal Brother’s Death, Extracts Millions

A grieving son from Uttar Pradesh sought answers after his brother’s sudden passing in Indore. A contact in Raipur introduced him to a man calling himself Narendra Nayan Shastri, who advertised the ability to decipher death mysteries through tantric rites.

Shastri assured the businessman that a series of clandestine ceremonies would bring clarity. He first asked for a sum of five lakh rupees, presenting it as a preliminary fee. Subsequent sessions were billed at higher rates, with the tantrik arguing that rare scriptures, special yantras, and exclusive sanctified spaces were required.

Ultimately, the victim transferred roughly ten lakh in cash and also signed over a luxury SUV worth about 25 lakh, convinced it was part of the ritual package. No proof or information about the brother’s death was ever provided. The tantrik repeatedly delayed meetings, offering excuses that stalled the investigation.

Realising the deception, the businessman filed a complaint at Khammardih police station. The police have recorded a fraud case against Shastri, who remains at large, and are exploring whether he has executed comparable scams on other distressed individuals.

The case adds to a growing list of reports where false spiritual practitioners leverage personal tragedy to swindle large sums of money.
