Schoolboy Loses 80% Hearing After Teacher Slaps Him for Delayed Book

In a shocking display of corporal punishment, a student in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district has suffered permanent hearing loss after being physically assaulted by a teacher. 13-year-old Sarthak Sahare was attending a regular Social Science class at Khalsa Public School when the incident occurred. The trigger for the teacher’s violent outburst was a simple delay; Sarthak took a few seconds too long to take his book out of his school bag. When the student asked the teacher, Priyanka Singh, to repeat her instruction, she responded by striking him across the face multiple times. Doctors in Raipur diagnosed him with significant trauma to the auditory nerves, stating that his hearing ability has been reduced by 80 percent. The teacher has since been arrested following a police investigation.
