Satvik Month Controversy: FIR Filed Over Supposedly Offensive Shiv Commentary

During Sawan, a period revered for fasting and devotion to Lord Shiva, a controversial Instagram post ignited a public uproar in Katgarh, Korba district. The post, which linked meat‑eating practices to the holy month, was alleged to contain disrespectful remarks about Shiva and associated deities.

Outraged devotees reported the content to local law enforcement, prompting BJP state committee member Meena Sharma and district vice‑president Manoj Diksena to accompany complainants to the Katgarh police station. Their written petition demanded that the responsible individual be held accountable for hurting religious feelings.

Police responded by filing an FIR under Section 299 of the Indian Penal Code against the user Nitesh Miri, known online as Mintu Miri. Investigators are now reviewing the viral post and its accompanying video to establish the exact nature of the alleged offense. The case is poised to proceed pending the results of this forensic assessment.
