Sarpanch’s Vehicle Vandalized Amid Factory Riot
The unrest at the Adani manufacturing plant in Raikheda reached a new level of aggression when the car of village head Dinesh Verma was deliberately smashed during Monday’s melee. The sarpanch’s vehicle, parked near the plant’s entrance, suffered broken windows and dented panels as the crowd’s anger boiled over.
The vandalism came after workers from two opposing factions turned a verbal disagreement over alleged liquor sales into a violent showdown. The clash quickly spiralled, with stone‑throwing, bottle‑breaking and widespread property damage throughout the factory grounds.
Police units entered the fray to separate the groups, but they too were pushed back, resulting in a constable sustaining injuries that required hospitalisation. Reinforced police contingents were later deployed to secure the area and restore order.
Investigators are now probing the chain of events that allowed alcohol to be sold within the industrial premises, whether the plant’s administration was complicit, and how the presence of a large migrant workforce may have contributed to the tension.
The incident raises serious concerns about security protocols in large industrial complexes and the need for tighter monitoring of prohibited substances on site.
