Run for Indravati Marathon to be organized on International Tiger Day

Raipur, International Tiger Day is celebrated every year on July 29. Its main objective is to raise awareness worldwide about the conservation of tigers and the protection of their natural habitats. Tigers are very important for maintaining the balance of our environment and forests. Tigers are threatened by poaching and deforestation, which this day aims to prevent.

Raising awareness about wildlife, biodiversity, and nature conservation

On the initiative of Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, a 'Run for Indravati' marathon will be organized on July 29, 2026 (International Tiger Day) under the joint auspices of Indravati Tiger Reserve, Bijapur, and Nova Nature Welfare Society, Chhattisgarh. The objective of this event is to raise awareness among youth, students, and common citizens about tigers, wildlife, biodiversity, and nature conservation.

This marathon will not just be a sports competition, but a symbol of public participation and collective resolve for the conservation of Indravati Tiger Reserve and its rich biodiversity.

Marathon to be held in two categories

The competition will be held in two categories: 10 kilometers and 5 kilometers. Winners in the men's and women's categories will be awarded cash prizes and certificates. In the 10-kilometer run, participants will receive a first prize of Rs 7,000, a second prize of Rs 5,000, and a third prize of Rs 4,000 along with certificates. In the 5-kilometer run, the first prize will be Rs 5,000, the second prize Rs 4,000, and the third prize Rs 3,000, along with certificates.

Online registration mandatory

Interested participants can register online by scanning the QR code provided on the poster. Registration will be done only through the online medium. All participants are urged to complete their registration in time.

Marathon to start at 7 AM

The 'Run for Indravati' marathon will start at 7 AM on July 29 from Indira Stadium, Bijapur. Chest numbers will be distributed to participants from 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM.
