Revenue cases should be resolved within the stipulated time: Revenue Minister Mr. Tank Ram Verma

Revenue Minister's surprise inspection creates stir in Raipur Tehsil office SDM reprimanded for delay in diversion Raipur, May 25, 2026/ Revenue Minister Mr. Tank Ram Verma today conducted a surprise inspection of the Raipur Tehsil office and the New Divisional Commissioner's office. The sudden visit by the minister caused a stir among the administrative staff. The minister expressed deep displeasure over the sluggish pace and negligence in the disposal of revenue cases during the inspection. He took officials to task for the delays in sensitive cases related to the general public such as mutation, error correction, demarcation, and partition, and gave strict instructions for their speedy resolution. Specifically, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) Raipur was severely reprimanded for the extremely slow progress in diversion (vyapvartan) cases. Instructions to improve cleanliness and file maintenance in offices During the inspection, the Revenue Minister also reviewed the cleanliness arrangements of the office premises. He expressed displeasure over the dirt spread in the premises and the disorganized maintenance of files. The minister gave strict instructions to the officials to ensure a clean environment and proper seating arrangements in the office for the convenience of the general public, and also to keep all government documents and files completely organized. Intensive inspection of various branches and courts To understand the working of the Tehsil office in detail, the Revenue Minister himself visited the Bhuinya branch, Kanungo branch, WBN branch, and Maljamadar branch. Along with this, he also conducted an intensive inspection of the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar courts. Reviewing the court proceedings, he clearly stated that hearings in revenue courts should be continuous so that the general public does not have to suffer the cycle of adjournments. People come in the morning and sit till evening, and are given the next date without a hearing; this attitude will not be tolerated. Target to make pending cases zero During the inspection, officials presented data stating that out of a total of 65,390 cases registered in the Tehsil so far, 64,702 have been resolved, and currently, only 688 cases are pending. On this, the minister gave a target to immediately resolve all remaining pending cases within the stipulated time. Direct communication with the public and quick resolution The minister not only scrutinized the files but also went among the general public present in the premises and communicated with them directly. He listened to people's complaints and problems and instructed the officials present on the spot to resolve them quickly. Instructions to Divisional Commissioner to prepare a roadmap for revenue work After the Tehsil office, the minister proceeded to the New Divisional Commissioner's office. There, he directed the Divisional Commissioner to dispose of pending revenue cases within the stipulated time. Along with bringing rigor to the work and strengthening supervisory oversight, the minister instructed the Divisional Commissioner to prepare a clear roadmap of the actual progress of revenue work in all districts of the division.
