Raipur, August 05, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has given clear instructions that compensation assistance should be provided promptly, as per rules, and with sensitivity in cases of loss of life, animal loss, and crop damage caused by violent wildlife. People residing in the forest areas often have to bear the pain of losing their loved ones due to attacks by wild animals. He said that in such cases, it is necessary to resolve the grief of the affected people quickly from a humanitarian perspective.
Chief Minister Shri Sai was addressing the review meeting of the Forest and Climate Change Department at the Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur today. He said that incidents of human-elephant conflict and loss of life, animal loss, and crop damage by other violent wildlife are emerging as a challenge in the forest areas of the state. In such situations, it is the responsibility of the government to provide prompt and just assistance to the victims. The Chief Minister directed that all related cases should be resolved promptly as per the rules.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that in addition to major crops like paddy, cash crops like sugarcane, banana, papaya, and jackfruit are also heavily damaged by wild elephants, due to which farmers not only suffer financially but also mentally.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also took information about the updated status of the individual forest rights pattas provided in the state.
In the meeting, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, while directing the officials, said that departmental coordination should be further strengthened so that the assistance provided by the government reaches the affected people on time. A proposal to increase the compensation rates for loss of life, permanent disability, animal loss, house damage, and crop loss was also presented in the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the amount of assistance to be provided under the RBC provisions for crop damage caused by natural disasters.

Shehla Nigar, Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management Department Shri Avinash Champawat, Secretary of Planning, Economics and Statistics Shri Ankit Anand, Secretary (Forest) Shri Amarnath Prasad, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Sudhir Agarwal, Additional Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Prem Kumar, along with other senior officers were present in the meeting.
