Chhattisgarh made headlines with an unprecedented mass marriage event, uniting 6,412 couples under one roof and clinching a world record certification. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, speaking at Raipur’s Science College field, lauded the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana as a beacon of social cohesion and empowerment.
‘This scheme embodies our vision of Antyodaya—uplifting the most marginalized,’ Sai declared. From Raipur to remote districts, couples embraced matrimony following their unique rituals, with 1,316 pairs receiving the CM’s blessings in person and others connecting online. A hefty Rs 35,000 grant per couple ensures a strong foundation for their future.
The Golden Book of World Records entry cements Chhattisgarh’s place on the global stage for fostering harmony. Sai also inaugurated the drive to eradicate malnutrition, piloting it in tribal-heavy areas before full rollout.
Reflecting on two years of governance, the CM touted achievements like monthly stipends for millions of women, better wages for forest workers, and pilgrimage schemes. ‘Modi’s guarantees are turning into reality here,’ he affirmed.
Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade recalled the program’s roots under ex-CM Dr. Raman Singh, now amplified for greater impact. Skill Minister Guru Khushwant Saha hailed the day as historic, symbolizing sensitive and all-encompassing policy-making.
Dignitaries including legislators and officials gathered, celebrating not just weddings but a broader commitment to welfare and nutrition security. This event signals Chhattisgarh’s accelerating path to prosperity and equality.
