A special PMLA court in Raipur has remanded former Chhattisgarh Congress treasurer Ramgopal Agrawal to Enforcement Directorate custody until August 18. The order follows his arrest on August 11 in connection with a multi-billion rupee liquor scam. The ED presented evidence suggesting a criminal conspiracy within the Abkari department from 2019 to 2023. The agency highlights that Agrawal allegedly received illicit funds at the party office, Rajiv Bhawan. Prior to the arrest, Agrawal had failed to respond to four summons, and his subsequent statements were described by the agency as evasive.
