Raipur, Bilaspur Schools Shut as Arnab Storm Triggers Holiday Orders
Raipur: With fears of worsening weather linked to the cyclonic storm 'Arnab' in Chhattisgarh, nine districts have declared school holidays for October 29. The list includes Raipur and Bilaspur.
District administrations have acted to protect students from possible rain, gusty winds and poor weather conditions. The decision reflects a local, district-level approach rather than a single state-wide order.
What Is Closed in Raipur
Raipur has taken the most comprehensive step. Under the orders of Collector Gaurav Kumar Singh, all government and private schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the district will remain shut on October 29.
What Is Closed Elsewhere
In the other districts named in the order, students of government and private schools have been given a holiday. Since the closure depends on individual district announcements, it does not apply across all of Chhattisgarh.
The Nine Districts Affected
Schools will remain closed on October 29 in these districts, considering the cyclone's impact and the Meteorological Department's warning:
1. Raipur 2. Bilaspur 3. Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara 4. Bemetara 5. Rajnandgaon 6. Kabirdham 7. Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi 8. Sarangarh-Bilaigarh 9. Surajpur
Not a Statewide Holiday
The School Education Department has permitted district collectors to declare holidays in line with local weather conditions. Parents should not presume that schools across the state are closed. Confirming with the district administration, the school or the District Education Officer is essential.
Note for Parents
The October 29 holiday is for students in the concerned districts. Instructions for teachers and other staff will be determined by the respective district administration's orders.
