Review of progress of Har Ghar Nal-Jal Jeevan Mission under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Vikasshil
Raipur, A detailed review of the progress of Har Ghar Nal (Jal Jeevan Mission) was conducted today here at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan through video conferencing with the collectors of all the districts of the state under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Vikasshil. The Chief Secretary said that the Jal Jeevan Mission was launched by the Government of India in 2019 with the objective of providing clean drinking water through taps to every household in all areas. He said that the state's goal is to provide safe and quality drinking water to every family. He informed that this scheme will save the time of women, reduce water-borne diseases, and also promote solid and liquid waste management.
Physically verify completed schemes by August 31
The Chief Secretary directed all collectors to prepare a clear action plan by working in mission mode in each district. He said that the effective implementation of the scheme should be ensured with the active participation of gram panchayats. The Chief Secretary told the collectors to review the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission every month. In the meeting, while reviewing the payment of completed and transferred schemes, the Chief Secretary directed that the physical verification of schemes whose work is completed should be done by August 31 and payment should be ensured. Schemes whose work is incomplete should be completed by December 31 at all costs. He said that 100 percent physical verification of all schemes should be done. He said that action should be taken against contractors who are negligent in their work.
Prepare an action plan for water source conservation and recharge system development
The Chief Secretary said that the District Collector should ensure the process of payment of running bills in a time-bound manner, so that construction work is not hindered. The Chief Secretary directed that schemes should be completed by arranging necessary financial resources from VB-G Ram Ji and local resources, District Mineral Trust (DMF), MP Fund, MLA Fund, CSR, and other available sources. He has also directed each district to assess water sources, identify new sources, develop water source conservation and recharge systems, and prepare an action plan for the conservation of each source. He said that for schemes where it is not possible to provide drinking water from the current source, alternative sources should be identified and action should be taken promptly. Rural areas cannot be deprived of clean drinking water. The progress of solar-based tap water schemes was also reviewed in the meeting. The Chief Secretary directed that the sanctioned amount and expenditure should be properly reconciled by analyzing scheme-wise.
Regular monitoring of Jal Jeevan Mission
Chief Secretary Shri Vikasshil has directed each district to set a new target for Har Ghar Jal and ensure 100 percent tap water coverage by considering villages as units, and to hold regular monthly meetings of the District Water and Sanitation Committee. He said that the proceedings of each meeting should be uploaded on the departmental portal on time and regular monitoring of the Jal Jeevan Mission should be ensured. He said that all collectors should work in mission mode with clear assessment, better planning, and effective coordination, so that water can be provided to every family of the state through Har Ghar Nal in a time-bound manner. The meeting, held via video conference, was attended by Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department Shri Mohammad Kaisar Abdul Haq, collectors of all districts, and departmental officials.
