President's Approval Pending for New High Court Judges in Bilaspur

The recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium to appoint three judges to the Chhattisgarh High Court now awaits the President’s signature. Once the President’s office issues the official notification, Satish Sharma, Sushma Sawant and Sudhir Kumar will be formally inducted as High Court judges.

Both the bench and bar quotas have contributed names for consideration. While the bench quota’s three candidates have already been cleared, the bar quota is expected to present three more names soon. This dual‑quota approach aims to ensure a balanced representation of judicial expertise.

The anticipated increase in the number of judges is expected to speed up the disposal of pending matters, bringing greater efficiency to the judicial system in Chhattisgarh.
