Preparations for Independence Day 2026 begin in Chhattisgarh. The state government has issued detailed guidelines for the Independence Day celebrations. Raipur, 17 July 2026 – The Chhattisgarh administration has released detailed guidelines to celebrate Independence Day 2026 across the state in a dignified, grand and inspirational manner. This year’s Independence Day will be special as it coincides with the historic celebration of the 150th anniversary of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. The government has given strict instructions to all district collectors and departmental heads for proper monitoring of the events. The Chief Minister will hoist the flag and mandatory collective singing of Vande Mataram will take place in Raipur. A state‑level main ceremony will be organized at the local police parade ground in Raipur on 15 August at 9:00 am. The honorable Chief Minister will hoist the flag and salute the parade. Given the historic significance of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, collective singing of the song is mandatory in all government programmes. The parade will include contingents of BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (men and women), city police, NCC and band platoons. The Chief Minister will also address the people of the state. At district and block levels, appointed ministers will hoist the flag, salute the parade and read the Chief Minister’s message. Cultural programs by school children will also be organised. At Janpad Panchayat headquarters, presidents of Janpad Panchayats, municipal bodies, village heads and sarpanches will hoist the flag, and national anthem, speeches and messages of national unity and integrity will be broadcast. Respect for the families of martyrs: District collectors are instructed to specially and respectfully invite the families of freedom fighters and those martyred in Naxal violence to the district‑level ceremonies. Government advertisements released on Independence Day will be dedicated to the heroes of the freedom struggle and the martyrs of Chhattisgarh, to be published in newspapers on 15 August. Special lighting will illuminate all government buildings, offices and nationally important monuments on the night of Independence Day, the cost to be borne by the respective departments. Citizens and private institutions are also urged to hoist the national flag on their premises and light up the night. Additional important instructions for institutions: Government and educational institutions must complete flag hoisting, national anthem, morning parade, cultural, literary, sports and tree‑planting programmes before 9:00 am. Use of loudspeakers requires prior permission from the district collector, and only limited patriotic songs may be played.
