Police Register POCSO Case Against Three in Korba Dussehra Incident

Korba police have filed a case under the POCSO Act against three men, one of whom is identified as a BJP leader, after a minor girl alleged obscene comments, assault and molestation during a Dussehra programme in Chhattisgarh.

The accused named in the case are Anil Chaurasia, Kaushal Chaurasia and Dinesh Chauhan. The investigation is currently underway, and police are trying to arrest the accused.

Incident Reported From Rajgamar

The matter relates to an event held at Ravan Maidan in Rajgamar, Korba, during the Dussehra festival. The complainant, a 16-year-old girl, was at the venue when she allegedly faced indecent remarks from the Chaurasia brothers.

As per the complaint, one remark implied that she had become an adult and that she would be taken out. The girl reportedly protested and informed her cousin about the behaviour.

Dispute Turns Violent

The complaint says the girl later approached the accused along with her cousin. The dispute that followed allegedly involved abusive language and physical assault directed at the girl and her family. The girl has further alleged inappropriate conduct and molestation during the confrontation, including her dupatta being pulled in a crowd.

Complaint Moves From Police Post to SP

The family initially submitted their complaint at the Rajgamar police post. Claiming that no action was taken there, they later raised the matter with the Superintendent of Police. Following this, an FIR was registered against all three accused.

Charges and Official Statement

The accused have been booked under the POCSO Act and other provisions related to molestation, insulting a woman's dignity and assault. Korba CSP Pratik Chaturvedi said that the case has been registered on the complaint and that legal action is in progress.

All allegations are under investigation, and their truth will be determined only after due judicial proceedings.
