Police Use Forensic and Cyber Teams to Solve Chhattisgarh Home Attack

The night‑time home invasion in Sambalpur, Balod district, prompted a multi‑disciplinary police response that included cyber‑cell investigators, forensic specialists and a canine unit. After the brutal assault on Gaurav Sahu and his family, officers arrived at the crime scene within minutes and began collecting digital and physical evidence.

CCTV footage from surrounding streets was retrieved and analyzed, providing clear images of the six suspects as they fled the scene on two motorcycles and a scooter. In addition, forensic experts recovered the wooden sticks and rafter used during the attack, linking them to the accused through DNA and fingerprint analysis.

The breakthrough in the case came from the testimony of the victim’s 13‑year‑old daughter, who reported seeing one of the assailants attempting to escape on a scooter. This statement, combined with the technical evidence, enabled the police to locate and detain the lead suspect, Bhanupratap Jain, in Bhilai.
