PMO Steps In as Bilaspur Victim Files FIR After Months of Abuse

A harrowing eight‑month saga of sexual exploitation and intimidation has finally reached the courts in Bilaspur. The victim, a 37‑year‑old seamstress, was duped by Prashant Narang – a prominent real‑estate trader – who promised legal assistance for a pending case. After drugging her at the East Park hotel in September 2024, he raped her, filmed the act, and used the video to blackmail her for months.

The perpetrator repeatedly threatened to kill her, to place narcotics in her shop, and to file false charges that could land her in jail. He also blocked her phone after the initial assault, isolating her further. Despite approaching multiple local leaders and police officers, the woman received no response. In desperation, she sent a detailed letter to the Prime Minister’s Office, outlining the abuse and requesting immediate action.

The PMO’s directive led the Civil Line police to register an FIR on July 11 2026, listing offences under Sections 64(2)(M), 308, and 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code. The police have seized the video, chat logs, and other digital evidence, and a special team is set to arrest Narang and bring him before the magistrate.
