Partially Cancelled South Bihar Express Restored
South Bihar Express to run between Durg-Ara-Durg throughout August (Sawan) month on special initiative of South East Central Railway | Journey for devotees travelling from Chhattisgarh to Baba Dham on the occasion of Shravani Mela will be more convenient | Raipur – Giving top priority to the convenience of devotees and Kanwar pilgrims from Chhattisgarh travelling to and from Baba Dham during the Shravani Mela, South East Central Railway has decided to restore the train number 13288/13287 Ara-Durg-Ara South Bihar Express on its full route. This will make the journey of thousands of devotees travelling in the month of Sawan smooth and convenient as before.
It is noteworthy that a mega block is being taken on the up and down lines of the Kansbahal-Dharuadihi section in the Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway for essential track maintenance and infrastructure-related works, which is important for the safe operation of trains. Due to this, South Bihar Express was partially cancelled by South Eastern Railway between Durg-Rourkela-Durg on various dates.
Considering the importance of Shravani Mela and the convenience of a large number of devotees from Chhattisgarh going to Baba Baidyanath Dham, a special initiative has been taken by South East Central Railway. As a result, South Bihar Express will now operate regularly between its originating and terminating stations, i.e., Ara-Durg-Ara, throughout August (Sawan) month.
As per special operational arrangements, train number 13288 Ara-Durg South Bihar Express departing from Ara on August 06, 13, 20 & 27, 2026 will run via the diverted route of Chandil-Kandra-Sini, while train number 13287 Durg-Ara South Bihar Express will run on its regular route between Durg-Ara-Durg on August 07, 14, 21 & 28, 2026.
This passenger-friendly initiative by South East Central Railway will provide uninterrupted, safe, and convenient rail travel benefits to devotees, Shiva devotees, and other passengers from Chhattisgarh and other areas of South East Central Railway during the Shravani Mela.
