‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ Campaign is an Inspiring Initiative to Connect Environmental Conservation with Public Participation

Raipur, September 11, 2026 / Promoting public participation in environmental conservation and conveying the message of responsibility towards nature, Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai planted saplings today under the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign at the College Ground in Jetha village, Sakti district.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted a Kadamba sapling, and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai planted an Almond sapling. Public representatives and officials present on this occasion also expressed their commitment towards environmental conservation and expansion of greenery.

The ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign connects the spirit of maternal respect with the resolve for nature conservation. Through this campaign, people are being encouraged to plant a sapling in honor of their mother and also to conserve and nurture it. The sense of responsibility for caring for the saplings after planting and developing them into trees is also an important objective of this campaign.

This campaign is an initiative to give a broader form of public participation to environmental conservation, rather than limiting it to governmental efforts. Through the campaign, the message of increasing greenery, maintaining ecological balance, and creating a safe and clean environment for future generations with the participation of more and more citizens is being conveyed.

It is noteworthy that through the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign, an effort is being made to give the form of a public movement to environmental conservation by connecting citizens across the country with sapling plantation. In this series, the plantation done by Union Minister Shri Chouhan and Chief Minister Shri Sai in Sakti district conveys the message of sensitivity towards nature and collective responsibility.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, District In-charge Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, Janjgir-Champa MP Mrs. Kamlesh Jangde, Bilaspur Divisional Commissioner Shri Sunil Jain, Commissioner of Developed India Jirangji Shri Taran Prakash Sinha, Collector Mrs. Jayashree Jain, Superintendent of Police Shri Prafull Thakur, Zila Panchayat CEO Shri Vasu Jain, along with public representatives and officials were present.
