Northeast and Western States Brace for Intense Rain and Strong Winds

From 29 July through 3 August, the northeastern belt—including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura—is forecast to face a prolonged period of heavy rain, with isolated pockets receiving very heavy precipitation.

Simultaneously, the western corridor comprising Konkan‑Goa, central Maharashtra, Gujarat, the Saurashtra‑Kutch region and Marathwada is expected to experience continuous rainfall. Wind speeds of 40 to 60 km/h could add to the discomfort in these zones.

Authorities have urged people in the affected districts to remain cautious, especially in low‑lying areas prone to waterlogging. The combined effect of rain and gusty winds may disrupt daily life, transportation and agricultural activities across these regions.
