North to South India sees varied forecasts – heat in Delhi, showers in South
A nationwide weather bulletin released by the IMD indicates contrasting conditions across the country from October 9 to October 14. Delhi will witness bright sunshine interspersed with thin cloud cover, with daytime temperatures peaking at 34 °C and night‑time lows of about 23 °C. The Himalayan sector will be buffeted by strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h and sporadic thunderstorms, especially in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand on the 9th. Himachal Pradesh may receive isolated rain on October 13‑14. The plains of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh could see light rain and gusty breezes, while western Uttar Pradesh will get rain on October 9‑11 and the east may experience squalls on the 9th. Western Rajasthan is also slated for occasional showers on October 11‑12. Eastern India—particularly Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha—is under a heavy‑rain alert extending through the first half of October. The northeastern corridor, including Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, is expected to endure rain and lightning on scattered days. In the southern peninsula, states such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will continue to endure heavy showers, with coastal areas prone to cyclonic winds up to October 12. Meanwhile, the Konkan coast and Goa will stay hot and humid on October 9‑10, intensifying discomfort. Residents are advised to keep a close watch on updates and follow safety guidelines.
