NMDC invites applications for fully sponsored 200 nursing seats under its flagship Girl Education Scheme
NMDC, India's largest iron ore producer, invites applications for fully sponsored 200 nursing seats under its flagship Girl Education Scheme (BSY) for the academic year 2026-27. An admission notice has been published inviting applications from eligible Scheduled Tribe (ST) girls in six districts of Chhattisgarh. Under NMDC's Nagam CSR initiative, the programme offers 110 seats for B.Sc. Nursing and 90 seats for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM). Selected candidates will receive completely free professional nursing education, covering NMDC tuition fee, hostel accommodation, study material, uniform, examination fees and other academic expenses. The scheme targets ST girls from Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Kondagaon and Narayanpur districts whose family annual income does not exceed ₹72,000. Applicants must be aged between 17 and 35 years. Candidates for B.Sc. Nursing must have qualified NEET-2026, and applicants for both B.Sc. Nursing and GNM must have obtained the minimum qualifying marks in Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English in 12th standard. Selected students will complete their nursing education at premier institutions such as Apollo School of Nursing, Hyderabad; Apollo College of Nursing, Chittoor; SRM College of Nursing, Chennai; KIMS (KIAMS) College of Nursing, Hyderabad; and Yashoda College of Nursing, Hyderabad. The initiative aims to empower tribal girls with professional health‑service skills. Eligible candidates can submit online applications through NMDC's career page (https://www.nmdc.co.in/careers) from 11:00 am on 22 July 2026 to 11:59 pm on 5 August 2026, uploading scanned copies of required documents including 10th and 12th mark sheets, ST caste certificate, income certificate, residence proof, ID proof (Aadhaar or ration card), passport‑size photograph, signature and NEET‑2026 scorecard for B.Sc. Nursing applicants. The selection will be based on an offline written exam using OMR sheets with objective multiple‑choice questions in English, allocating 30 marks: Biology (10), English (7), Physics (5), Chemistry (5) and General Knowledge (3). Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification and medical test before final selection, with preference given to those residing near NMDC project sites. Since its inception, the programme has enrolled 330 GNM students up to FY 2022, of whom 230 are serving in government health institutions of Chhattisgarh. Additionally, 75 tribal girls have received fully sponsored B.Sc. Nursing education, with about 80 % returning to serve in the state's health sector. NMDC invests up to ₹12 lakh per student per year to cover all academic and hostel expenses, making quality nursing education accessible to tribal girls.
