Mungeli, Bilaspur to Get High-Level Bridges Worth Rs 14.26 Crore

Raipur, October 24, 2026: Residents of Mungeli and Bilaspur districts are set for better road connectivity after the Chhattisgarh government approved two high-level bridges. The combined cost of the projects, including approach roads, is 14 crore 25 lakh 97 thousand rupees.

The Public Works Department issued the administrative sanctions after Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Sao gave his approval.

Replacing a submersible bridge in Mungeli

The Manyari river crossing on the Takhatpur-Barela state road in Mungeli district will get a new high-level bridge. The current submersible bridge at the site will be replaced. The sanctioned amount for the bridge and its approach road is 7 crore 67 lakh 11 thousand rupees.

At present, rising water levels in the Manyari river can affect traffic movement on the submersible bridge. Such disruptions are a concern, especially during the rainy season. The new structure is expected to ease these problems and make road access more dependable.

New bridge over Dongana Nala in Bilaspur

A high-level bridge and approach road will also be built over the Dongana Nala on the Belgahna-Konchara-Khongsara road in Bilaspur district. The government has sanctioned 6 crore 58 lakh 86 thousand rupees for this project.

The bridge is expected to offer local residents smoother and more convenient travel. It may also support the broader regional transport system.

Emphasis on construction standards

The state government has asked the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department to closely monitor the quality of construction and the scheduled completion for both works. The department has also been directed to use quality materials, carry out regular checks, and follow the prescribed technical standards.

When completed, the two bridges will help strengthen road infrastructure in Mungeli and Bilaspur districts. The projects could offer secure connectivity on routes where traffic is often affected by rising water levels.
