Nitin Namdev, Raipur. MP Brijmohan Agrawal has written a letter to the Governor and the Chief Minister, expressing serious concern over the cases of increasing conversion, love jihad and cow slaughter in the state.
In his letter, Brijmohan Agrawal said that religion is the root of our culture and cow service is an integral part of it. Recently, cases of conversion and cow smuggling have posed a threat to the eternal traditions of the state. He alleged that conversion is being promoted by foreign funding, and is being operated like an industry. Apart from this, he also said that in the tribal areas and rural areas of Chhattisgarh, the poor are being converted by luring them.
The MP cited Article 25 (1) of the Constitution, saying that every citizen has freedom of religion, but under Article 25 (2), the state has the right to enact strict laws to prevent illegal conversion.
Major suggestions of MP Brijmohan: To make the Religious Freedom Act strict: Those who take the benefit of SC/OBC reservation should be punished wrongly. It should be made mandatory to give information 60 days before the collector to the people wishing to convert. Those who convert to conversion also need to apply to the collector. There should be a provision of stringent punishment for those who convert from rapist, unfair effects and temptations. Strict law against cow slaughter and cow smuggling: Beef is sentenced to 1 to 10 years on sales, transport and storage. There should be a provision of 7 years sentence on illegal transport and sale of cattle and 3 years punishment for crime efforts.
Brijmohan Agrawal has demanded that these laws be passed in the assembly session so that Sanatan culture and traditions can be protected in Chhattisgarh. He said that there is a demand for strict law time to curb evils like conversion and cow smuggling.
