MoU Between Department of Planning, Economics & Statistics and IIM Raipur

Raipur / A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Planning, Economics & Statistics, State Policy Commission, Government of Chhattisgarh, and the Indian Institute of Management Raipur (IIM Raipur). The objective is to strengthen academic and professional collaboration in the areas of good governance, effective policy formulation, institutional capacity development, evidence-based decision-making, research, and sustainable development.
Secretary Shri Bhuvanesh Yadav from the Department of Planning, Economics & Statistics, State Policy Commission, and Director-In-Charge Prof. Sanjeev Parashar from IIM Raipur signed the MoU. Under the agreement, collaboration will take place in various fields including training, capacity building, policy research, consulting, data analytics, research, and documentation.
Emphasis on Training and Capacity Building
Under the MoU, leadership development, mid-career executive, and customized management development programs can be organized for government officials. Training will also be provided in areas such as Econometrics, Research Methodology, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Public Policy, and leadership and managerial skills.
Promoting Policy Research and Data-Driven Decisions
Both institutions will jointly work in the areas of policy research, impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, benchmarking, institutional strengthening, strategic consulting, and data-driven decision support. Research, case studies, policy briefs, and research reports related to Chhattisgarh's development priorities can also be prepared.
Live Analytics Projects and Student Participation
Live projects based on data analytics, digital transformation, governance innovation, and applied research can be undertaken by IIM Raipur's faculty and students. Students will gain practical experience with government schemes and development programs through summer internships, field immersion, live consulting, action research, and capstone projects.
Exchange of Knowledge and Expertise
Joint conferences, seminars, policy dialogues, stakeholder consultations, and roundtables will be organized under the MoU. IIM Raipur's experts, government officials, and subject matter experts will participate in training, research, and consultancy activities. Academic resources, research publications, databases, non-confidential data, and technical expertise can also be shared, subject to applicable rules.
This agreement is a significant initiative towards making policy formulation and governance in Chhattisgarh more data-based, research-oriented, and outcome-focused. The coordination between IIM Raipur's academic expertise and the policy understanding of the State Policy Commission and the Department of Planning, Economics & Statistics is expected to give new momentum to research, innovation, and effective policy collaboration on the state's development priorities.
