A tragic road accident in the Surajpur district has claimed the lives of a mother and her son. The incident occurred in the Bhatgaon police station area. Urmila Nayak, the mother, was riding a scooter with her 10-year-old son when a speeding diesel tanker collided with them near Kapsara village on the Ambikapur-Banaras road. The son died at the scene, while the mother succumbed to her injuries at Ambikapur Medical College. The deceased woman was a sanitation worker at the Jarhi Nagar Panchayat. The tanker driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the Latori police. An investigation is underway.
