More Than 11 Lakh Prime Minister's Houses Completed After Formation of New Government

Raipur, Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, the work of constructing houses continues at a steady pace with the aim of providing a permanent roof to poor and needy families in the state. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Shri Vijay Sharma, informed in a press conference today that more than 11 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin have been completed since the formation of the new government. The state government is committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's resolve to provide housing to the poor.

Resolve for More Than 18 Lakh Houses in the First Cabinet

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma stated that in the very first cabinet meeting after the formation of the new government, a resolution was passed to sanction and construct more than 18 lakh Prime Minister's houses for eligible families in the state. In line with this resolve, the state government has prioritized the process of house construction. Houses sanctioned in old and new financial years are being completed by providing necessary funds.

More Than 5.92 Lakh Houses Completed in the Last Financial Year

Shri Sharma informed that more than 5 lakh 92 thousand Prime Minister's houses were completed in the state during the last financial year. This achievement is the highest in the entire country. The state government is continuously monitoring to maintain the pace of house construction and provide houses to eligible beneficiaries on time.

All Eligible Houses from 2011 and 2018 Eligibility Lists Sanctioned

The Deputy Chief Minister informed that all houses found eligible under the eligibility lists of 2011 and 2018 have been sanctioned in the state. Out of the total sanctioned houses, 20 lakh 40 thousand houses have been completed so far. Currently, construction work is in progress for approximately 4 lakh houses. He said that the government's aim is not just to sanction houses but to ensure that eligible families quickly benefit from their permanent homes. For this purpose, continuous efforts are being made at the departmental level to complete the houses under construction as soon as possible.

Houses from Old Financial Years Also Completed Under the Current Government

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma clarified that the more than 11 lakh houses completed during the tenure of the current government include houses sanctioned in previous financial years. Houses sanctioned in the past that were pending for various reasons have also been completed by the current government by providing the necessary funds. He said that the government has prioritized old pending houses and ensured that beneficiaries receive the benefit of housing. Thus, in a short span of the last two and a half years, more than 11 lakh houses, including those from old and new financial years, have been completed.

Houses Under Chief Minister's Housing Scheme and Special Schemes Also Included

The houses completed during the tenure of the current government also include houses sanctioned under various schemes. Among these, approximately 20 thousand houses have been completed out of the 48 thousand houses sanctioned under the Chief Minister's Housing Scheme. Around 23 thousand houses are included under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. Additionally, houses sanctioned under special projects are also included in the housing construction achievements. Emphasis is being placed on providing permanent housing to especially needy, poor, and deprived families through these schemes.

Providing a Permanent Roof to the Poor is the Government's Top Priority

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has resolved to provide a permanent roof to every poor family in the country. The Chhattisgarh government is working with full commitment to realize this resolve. After coming to power, housing construction has been prioritized, and the pace of construction of sanctioned houses has been accelerated. He said that the completion of more than 11 lakh houses in the last two and a half years is a result of the state government's commitment and continuous efforts. Along with completing old pending houses, the construction of newly sanctioned houses is also regularly continuing.

Shri Sharma added that approximately 4 lakh houses are currently under construction in the state, and the department is making continuous efforts to complete them soon. The state government's goal is to ensure that no eligible poor family is deprived of a permanent house. He said that through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, efforts are being made to bring about a permanent change in the lives of poor families. The government will continue to work towards ensuring that more and more eligible families in the state benefit from permanent housing by prioritizing the completion of houses from all old and new financial years.
