Meter Reader to Conduct Aadhaar e-KYC at Your Doorstep in Chhattisgarh

In an effort to bring convenience to rural and urban households alike, the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Distribution Company will allow meter readers to perform Aadhaar e‑KYC at the consumer’s residence. Equipped with a mobile application, the meter reader can verify identity on the spot using OTP, fingerprint or facial authentication, eliminating the need for a separate visit to the office.

The process mirrors the online and offline methods: the reader checks the Aadhaar card, records the required data in the app, and completes the e‑KYC without any charge to the consumer. If the name on the Aadhaar matches the name on the electricity record by 100%, the verification is instantly accepted. For matches between 85% and 99.99%, the office in‑charge must give a final nod. Anything below 85% will require the consumer to update their name details before the connection can be approved.

Consumers will receive an SMS confirmation once the doorstep e‑KYC is successfully recorded, ensuring transparency and quick service.
