Massive Cash Boost for Chhattisgarh Women Ahead of Raksha Bandhan

Raipur, August 24, 2026 – As Raksha Bandhan approaches, Chhattisgarh is preparing a substantial financial gift for its female citizens. The Mahatari Vandan Yojana’s 31st installment, worth ₹631.38 crore, will be deposited into the accounts of 6,72,28,918 women on August 25.

Chief Minister VishnuDev Sai will officiate the DBT credit at a gathering of local women’s self‑help groups in Daondilohara. The timing is framed as a tribute to the bond between brothers and sisters, with the government branding the payment as a “special Rakhi present.”

Since its inception, the scheme has disbursed over ₹19,444 crore across 30 cycles, targeting socio‑economic upliftment, health, and educational outcomes for women. Recipients have reported using previous installments to fund school fees, purchase medicines, and invest in savings instruments.

Direct bank transfers eliminate middlemen and provide women with greater autonomy over their finances. Officials emphasize that such empowerment can lead to better decision‑making at the household level and stimulate small‑scale entrepreneurship.

The event will also recognize the contributions of the “Bihan Didi” initiative and various grassroots collectives that have aided in the scheme’s rollout, reinforcing the state’s focus on inclusive development.
