With Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Shabina Begum Enhanced Her Business, Took Steps Towards Self-Reliance

Raipur, Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is continuously striving to make women economically empowered and self-reliant. The Mahtari Vandan Yojana is an important initiative in this direction, under which eligible women are provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month. By utilizing the funds received from the scheme, many women in the state are advancing their small businesses and paving new paths to self-reliance. The story of Mrs. Shabina Begum from village Sarkhon in Janjgir-Champa district is an inspiring example of this change. Mrs. Shabina Begum, a resident of village Sarkhon under the Integrated Child Development Project Janjgir, used to run a small bangle shop from her home. Due to limited capital and income, expanding the business was challenging for her. It was not easy to invest extra in the business amidst the family's financial needs. At such a time, the financial assistance received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana became her support.

Mrs. Shabina Begum has been regularly receiving Rs 1,000 per month under the scheme in her bank account since March 2024. She saved the amount received from the scheme and invested it lump sum in her bangle business. With this amount, she procured new designs of bangles and various types of items for the shop. With increased variety in the shop, the number of customers increased, and her income also improved compared to before.

Gradually, Shabina Begum expanded her small business. Today, her bangle business plays a significant role in strengthening the family's economic condition. With the increased income, she is able to meet the family's needs and also spend better on the nutrition, health, and education of her children. Along with economic self-reliance, her self-confidence has also increased remarkably.

Mrs. Shabina Begum said that the financial assistance from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has given her the opportunity to advance her business and stand on her own feet. She said that investing the scheme's amount in the right direction as per need has given new momentum to her business. For this, she expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

The Mahtari Vandan Yojana is not just a means of regular financial assistance for women in the state, but it also provides them opportunities to make economic decisions, promote self-employment, and strengthen the family's economic condition. The success of women like Shabina Begum shows that with proper financial support and opportunities, women can write a new story of self-reliance through their skills and hard work.
