Lost Child Finds Family: Bal Kalyan Samiti Balod's Initiative Offers Hope for a New Life
After searching for family for one year, foster care placement was arranged.
Raipur, A nine-year-old boy who was found wandering at Balod railway station a year ago is now embarking on a new beginning in his life, surrounded by the love and security of a new family. The sensitive initiative by the Balod district administration and the Child Welfare Committee has not only provided shelter to the child but also a family that will now take responsibility for his upbringing, education, and bright future.
Under the guidance of Collector and Chairperson of District Child Welfare and Protection Committee, Mrs. Divya Umesh Mishra, and following all legal provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the successful foster care placement of the child "Sameer" (name changed) was arranged with the Dhivar family residing in Ratanpur, Bilaspur district. Additional Collector Mr. Chandrakant Kaushik and District Program Officer of Women and Child Development Department, Mr. Amit Sinha, handed over the rehabilitation order and wished the child and his new family best wishes for a happy, safe, and affectionate future.
Extensive efforts made to search for parents and relatives District Program Officer Mr. Amit Sinha stated that this child was found wandering at Balod railway station about a year ago. The railway police promptly rescued him and presented him before the Child Welfare Committee. Subsequently, the committee made extensive efforts to find the child's parents and relatives in accordance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. Information was published in national newspapers and investigations were conducted at various levels, but no relatives came forward within the stipulated period.
Family found for foster care after four months of efforts Keeping in mind the best interests of the child, the Child Welfare Committee began searching for a willing family that could provide him with a family environment, security, affection, and a better future. After continuous efforts for about four months, the Dhivar family residing in Ratanpur, Bilaspur district, agreed to accept the child as part of their family under foster care. Following this, all necessary legal and social processes were completed with the support of the District Child Protection Unit Balod and CEAC. The Child Welfare Committee issued an order for the child's rehabilitation and formally handed him over to the Dhivar family.
On this occasion, gifts were also presented to the child so that he could experience a sense of closeness and belonging with his new family and begin a new chapter in his life. Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, Mr. Krishna Sahu, and committee members were also present on this occasion.
