Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. Former state minister, Konta MLA Kavasi Lakhma, who is jailed in the liquor scam case, has filed anticipatory bail petition in the High Court. He has filed this petition to avoid the arrest of ACB, which will be heard in the coming days. At the same time, Lakhma had applied for permission to attend the assembly session, which was heard in the special court. The absence of Kavasi Lakhma will not have any special effect in the conduct of the assembly session, saying the court has rejected the application.
Kavasi Lakhma was arrested by ED on 15 January in the liquor scam case. 7 days after the arrest, former Excise Minister Kavasi Lakhma was first questioned by the ED in Custodial remand for 7 days. After that, Lakhma was sent on 14 days judicial remand from 21 January to 4 February. During the last hearing, Lakhma was produced through a video conference due to lack of adequate force in the jail. After the hearing, the court extended the remand of Lakhma till 18 February. At the same time, after the hearing on February 18, judicial remand till March 4 has been increased.
FIR is registered against 100 people including two former ministers, MLAs
Explain that in the liquor and coal scam case in Chhattisgarh, the ED had filed an FIR against 100 people, including two former ministers, MLAs. These include the Excise Minister in the Congress government, Kavasi Lakhma, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, former MLA UD Minj, Gulab Kamro, Shishupala. Apart from these, there are names of leaders of 2 suspended IAS, retired IAS officer including Congress Treasurer Ram Gopal Aggarwal and others.
The coal scam includes more than 30 names and 70 names in the liquor scam. The FIR was conducted in ACB on 17 January last year. Former minister Lakhma is afraid that ACB may also arrest him and inquire. In such a situation, he has filed an anticipatory bail petition in the High Court.
