The Railway Protection Force (RPF) filed a case on 18 August 2026 but soon realized that traditional investigative routes would not reveal the perpetrator’s identity. Inspector Taruna Sahu, a senior RPF officer, posted the clip on her personal social‑media profile, urging followers to provide any clues. The post, viewed by around 78,000 users, generated dozens of tips that pointed toward a suspect residing in Pune.

A coordinated review of CCTV footage from railway stations along the central zone—Raipur, Durg, Gondia, Nagpur, and finally Pune—exposed the suspect’s face. Acting on this evidence, RPF teams executed a raid in Pune, arrested the individual and transferred him to Rajnandgaon.

The man was identified as Ajay Prajapati, a 28‑year‑old resident of Jagora village, Ward‑2, Pithora police station, Mahasamund district. After a court appearance in Rajnandgaon, a jail warrant was issued and he was sent to Central Jail Raipur.
