Large cache of country and imported spirits confiscated in Bilaspur raid

Police in Bilaspur uncovered a sizable stash of both locally brewed and imported alcoholic drinks during a raid on two dhabas on September 17, 2026. The Holiday Inn Dhaba was found with 32 pao of desi spirit, estimated at ₹2,560, while the Mommy The Dhaba held nine bottles of foreign whisky – five McDowell, three Signature and one Royal Challenge – valued at roughly ₹8,000.

The operation, directed by SSP Rajnesh Singh, involved Addl. SP Pankaj Kumar Patel and City Police Commissioner Parameshwar Tilakwar. An informant’s warning on the night of September 16 prompted the swift action.

Both establishments' managers, Shyamkumar Jayswal, 45, and Naveen Shrivast, 31, were arrested and sent to judicial custody. The incidents are recorded as offenses 858/2026 and 859/2026, invoking Section 34(2) of the Excise Act.
