Khaparganj Stone‑Pelting Incident Leads to Major Police Crackdown

Khaparganj, a suburb of Bilaspur, became the scene of a severe stone‑pelting assault on the night of August 28, prompting an aggressive police response.

According to statements from senior officers, the clash erupted after a heated argument between two rival groups outside a biryani centre. Within minutes, both sides were exchanging stones, and the situation escalated into a chaotic street fight.

The local police promptly secured the area, deploying additional forces and establishing a perimeter. Senior officials, including the SSP and the district collector, arrived on the ground to assess the damage and coordinate the investigation.

The crackdown intensified after the primary suspect, Sohel Khan, surrendered at Koni police station. Investigators subsequently arrested three of his co‑accused – Arbaz, Abdul Razzak and another associate – and have so far secured twelve individuals in total, while the hunt for Thakur Ram Singh continues.
