Raipur January 1, 2026/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the pace of development in the country has reached new heights. Decades-old important infrastructure and energy projects are now being completed in a time-bound manner through the “PRAGATI” platform. This is a strong testament to the result-oriented, accountable, and decisive working style of the central government.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the impact of the “PRAGATI” platform is clearly visible in Chhattisgarh. The modernization of the Bhilai Steel Plant has not only given new momentum to rail production in the country but has also created employment opportunities for thousands of youths. This has strengthened the resolve of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) and given a new direction to industrial development.
Similarly, NTPC’s Lara Super Thermal Power Project (1600 MW) is ensuring uninterrupted power supply to six states including Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister said that this project has strengthened energy security and infused new energy into industrial and agricultural activities.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the “PRAGATI” platform has developed a robust system for project monitoring, continuous review, and quick resolution of obstacles. Clear goals, fast execution, and concrete results—this is the work culture of the new India and this is the path to realize the goal of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” (Developed India @ 2047).
It is noteworthy that the 50th meeting of PRAGATI (Proactive Governance and Timely Implementation), chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given new impetus not only at the national level but also to Chhattisgarh’s development journey. PRAGATI is an ICT-based platform developed for proactive governance and timely implementation, which has made the process of project monitoring and resolution more effective. In the last decade, the pace of projects worth over Rs 85 lakh crore has accelerated through the PRAGATI platform. This has brought timely progress to many works related to infrastructure, energy, rail, road, coal, and other sectors across the country. Many important projects related to Chhattisgarh are also included among these projects.
The modernization and expansion work of the Bhilai Steel Plant was specially mentioned in the meeting. This project was approved in the year 2007. Due to regular reviews and inter-agency coordination in PRAGATI meetings, this project gained new momentum, resulting in its work progressing rapidly and ensuring targeted progress.
The modernization of the Bhilai Steel Plant has led to a significant increase in production capacity. Along with this, Chhattisgarh’s industrial development, employment generation, expansion of ancillary industries, and the regional economy have also received new energy. This has further strengthened the state’s position as a major steel production hub in the country.
Similarly, the Lara Super Thermal Power Project in Raigarh, approved in 2009, gained momentum through high-level reviews, timely necessary directives, and continuous monitoring under the PRAGATI platform, and solid progress was recorded in its implementation.
Today, the Lara Super Thermal Power Project has become one of the key projects strengthening national energy security. This project has not only increased power generation capacity but has also further strengthened Chhattisgarh’s identity as the “Power Hub of India”. This has brought new stability to the energy system of both the state and the country.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized that the PRAGATI platform has given new strength to cooperative federalism and that the pace and confidence in development works have increased due to the joint efforts of the center and the states.
