Joint Meeting of NDMA and NDRF Concluded

Raipur, A joint review meeting with officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was organized today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan in the Chhattisgarh State Disaster Management Authority (CGSDMA).

Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Shrimati Shammi Abidi, informed about disaster risk reduction in the state, monsoon preparedness, and the disaster response mechanism. Preparedness for seasonal disasters such as floods, excessive rainfall, lightning, and landslides in the state was reviewed. Officials provided information regarding the functioning and coordination system of the State and District Emergency Operation Centers. Discussions were held on further strengthening rapid response and coordination between NDRF, SDRF, and district administration. Similarly, the effective use of the early warning system, the Sacheta platform, and the cell broadcast-based alert system was also reviewed. Joint Advisor to NDMA, Shri Sanjeev Sahai, highlighted the cooperation of the National Disaster Management Authority in disaster management activities being carried out in the state.

Mock exercises, capacity building, community awareness, and resource availability were discussed. Similarly, necessary guidelines were issued to ensure better coordination and rapid relief and rescue operations in sensitive districts during the upcoming monsoon period. In the meeting, all concerned departments were instructed to enhance mutual coordination, strengthen pre-preparation, and ensure a swift and effective response in the event of any disaster, so that the loss of life and property can be minimized.
