Ishwari Takes Steps Towards Economic Empowerment with Mahtari Vandan Yojana
With the one thousand rupees received every month, she has nurtured her vegetable garden and is also receiving support for her children's education.
She previously had to borrow money for small needs; now she is increasing her family's income through her hard work.
Raipur, October 05, 2026/ For 40-year-old Ishwari Markar from the remote tribal village of Bamhni in Pendra development block of GPM district, the one thousand rupees arriving in her bank account every month is not just financial assistance, but the foundation of self-respect, confidence, and self-reliance. Utilizing the funds received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, led by Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, Ishwari has developed a vegetable garden on the land behind her house. This garden not only provides fresh vegetables for her family but also generates income through the sale of surplus produce.
There were times in Ishwari's life when she had to borrow money from others to meet small household needs. Sometimes, even for very urgent needs, she couldn't get a loan. Such circumstances used to frustrate her. Meeting household needs and children's education expenses with a limited income was a major challenge for her.
Now, the situation is slowly changing. The one thousand rupees received every month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has provided Ishwari with financial strength. With this regular income, she no longer has to depend on others for her small needs.
Ishwari shares that earlier, she had to borrow money from others even for minor needs. Often, even for very important tasks, she couldn't get money. This caused a lot of trouble. Now, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai has started the Mahtari Vandan Yojana for needy women like us. Receiving one thousand rupees in the account every month has been a great support. Now, there is no need to beg for any need.
Turned a thousand rupees into a source of income
Instead of spending the money received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana solely on household needs, Ishwari began investing a portion of it in her vegetable garden. She has grown various types of vegetables on the available land behind her house. These vegetables are used for the family's meals, and she also earns additional income by selling the surplus produce in the market.
This initiative has not only reduced the family's expenditure on vegetables but has also created a small but regular source of income through selling vegetables in the market. This small garden behind her house is now not just a place for growing vegetables for Ishwari, but a symbol of her steps towards self-reliance.
Receiving support for children's education as well
Ishwari is also using the funds received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana to meet her children's educational needs. Receiving a fixed amount every month has eased the family budget and is helping in meeting the children's small educational requirements.
Ishwari's story shows that when financial assistance from the government is combined with hard work and a right mindset, it can become a medium for positive change in life. Ishwari did not just consider the one thousand rupees from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana as aid; she coupled it with her hard work and made it a means to increase her income.
Biggest change - Self-respect and Confidence
The most significant change in Ishwari's life is not just financial but also in her self-respect and confidence. The compulsion to borrow money from others in times of need once frustrated her; today, the income generated from her hard work in her garden gives her the courage to become self-reliant. The greenery of Ishwari's vegetable garden in the remote tribal village of Bamhni has become a picture of her changing life. Government assistance and Ishwari's hard work have together opened new avenues of hope for her family.
Ishwari Markar expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai for the regular financial assistance received under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. She says that this scheme has not only provided her with financial support but also the confidence to move forward through her own efforts. The financial strength from Mahtari Vandan and Ishwari's hard work together send the message that with the right opportunity and support, rural women can become the economic backbone of their families and write a new story of self-reliance.
