Investigation Launched After Guard Fires Service Rifle Near Shoulder
In a startling turn of events, a police guard stationed in Jagdalpur inadvertently fired his service rifle, the bullet grazing his shoulder before exiting. The incident involved constable Vijay Jena, who was assigned to the protection detail of a trainee DSP.
Emergency response teams moved quickly, transporting the injured officer to Maharani Hospital where he is receiving treatment under close medical supervision. No detailed health report has been shared publicly.
The mishap took place in the early hours of the afternoon, roughly between 1 pm and 2 pm. Fellow policemen present at the location coordinated with a patrolling unit to ensure prompt hospital admission.
Kotwali police officials reached the site within minutes of the report and have opened an inquiry. Investigators aim to reconstruct the sequence of events, identify all personnel present, and ascertain whether any external pressures, including personal disputes, contributed to the accidental discharge.
Although initial chatter hints at a potential family dispute, the police have refrained from confirming any motive. The probe will continue until all facts are established.
