HPV vaccination makes Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district the top in the state

HPV vaccination in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district became the top in the state on the special vaccination day, achieving the highest number of girls vaccinated in the state and marking a major achievement in the fight against cervical cancer. The Chhattisgarh health department’s effective strategy and public awareness campaign conducted extensive vaccination in 74 schools, laying a strong foundation for the safe future of thousands of girls. Raipur, July 17 2026 – Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the state government’s women‑health welfare programs are now showing positive results across the state. During the special HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination week organised by the Chhattisgarh health department, the special vaccination day held on July 17 saw Gaurela‑Pendra‑Marwahi district achieve the highest HPV vaccinations in the state, a testament to the state’s visionary health policy, effective planning and robust implementation. The state government is fully committed to the healthy, safe and empowered future of girls, and HPV vaccination will play a crucial role in preventing serious diseases such as cervical cancer. Reaching every eligible girl with this protective shield is a government priority and the health department’s efforts are commendable. From July 13 to 18, the special HPV vaccination week targeted eligible girls aged 14‑15 to receive the vaccine and protect them from severe illnesses like cervical cancer. The campaign was launched under the guidance of Collector Shri Vijay Dayaram at the government higher secondary schools in Navasa and Chuktipani of the Vikas Khand Gaurela block. The state set a target of vaccinating 3,893 girls in the district. On the special vaccination day, a broad‑scale vaccination drive was conducted in 74 schools with medical officials and health staff present. About 809 girls were registered online and 1,100 offline for vaccination. With this outstanding performance, Gaurela‑Pendra‑Marwahi district recorded the highest HPV vaccinations in the state. The success of the campaign was due to the coordinated efforts of the district administration, health department and education department. Key officials including District Panchayat’s Chief Executive Officer Shri Mukesh Rawate, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rameshwar Sharma, and Assistant Commissioner for Tribal Development Shri Gopesh Manhar, along with health department officers, medical staff, teachers and school management, provided active support. Through school‑based vaccination drives, the Chhattisgarh health department is also educating girls and their parents about HPV infection, cervical cancer prevention and the importance of vaccination. The initiative goes beyond vaccination, aiming to raise health awareness among adolescents and ensure protection from serious diseases in the future. This outcome reflects the continuous efforts under Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai’s leadership to strengthen health services, prioritize maternal and child health and expand preventive health care, resulting in effective and successful health programmes across the state.
