Heavy rains forecast in Himalayas and North‑East regions

The Himalayan states are under alert. In Uttarakhand, districts such as Chamoli, Almora, Bageshwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Tehri Garhwal, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Paudi Garhwal and Rudraprayag have been issued heavy rain and storm warnings. Several districts of Himachal Pradesh also face a similar advisory, and Jammu & Kashmir is expected to see rain and gusty winds across many areas.

In the North‑East, West Bengal and Odisha may experience heavy rain in isolated locations today. From today until 7 September, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are forecast to receive rain, with Arunachal seeing heavy showers on 4 September and again on 6‑7 September. Assam and Meghalaya could see heavy rain through 7 September. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to experience widespread rain between today and 6 September.
