The weather across India is currently divided between two extremes: a rapidly advancing monsoon in the south and a persistent heatwave across the northern plains. The IMD has cautioned that the national capital along with Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh will face a heatwave for at least the next six days. Temperatures in these regions are likely to hover around the 45-degree mark, accompanied by surface winds reaching speeds of 30 km/h. On the southern front, the South-West Monsoon is progressing through the South-East Arabian Sea. In the Northeast, eight states have been put on alert for heavy rainfall, with Assam and Meghalaya specifically warned of 'very heavy' rain between May 23 and May 25. Central India remains relentless with cities in Rajasthan recording temperatures exceeding 46 degrees Celsius.
