New Handloom Premium Brand ‘Koshil Fab’ Unveiled Amid Celebration of Women Empowerment

During the National Handloom Day event on August 7, the Chhattisgarh Handloom Development and Marketing Cooperative launched its newest premium brand, “Koshil Fab”. The unveiling took place alongside the Swadeshi Fashion Show, where thirty models—twelve of them former Naxalite women from Sukma and Bastar—displayed garments crafted from indigenous kosa and hand‑loom yarn.

The brand launch was attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the Assembly Speaker, and the Rural Industries Minister. Officials highlighted that “Koshil Fab” aims to position traditional handloom products in premium markets while providing higher earnings for artisans.

A state‑wide directory of acclaimed weavers was also released, along with a coffee‑table book featuring garments dyed using the traditional tie‑and‑die technique. The event further demonstrated a mobile exhibition van, which will travel to villages to showcase the cooperative’s offerings.

Financial assistance packages were announced, including scholarships for over 935 students, honorariums for senior weavers, and targeted grants for housing, equipment upgrades, and raw‑material procurement to strengthen the handloom ecosystem.
