Government Reaffirms Support to Families of Fallen Heroes on Raksha Bandhan

Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the Chhattisgarh government staged a poignant ceremony at Raipur’s indoor stadium, bringing together security forces and community women. The "Sneh Ki Dor" programme invited schoolgirls, differently‑abled daughters and members of women’s self‑help groups to tie rakhi on the wrists of soldiers as a token of gratitude.

Madhuri Verma, the spouse of martyr Inspector Yugal Kishor Verma—who gave his life in a Naxal clash a day before Raksha Bandhan 2017—tied a rakhi on Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s wrist. The emotional gesture moved the CM, who reiterated the government’s promise to stand with the families of martyrs through every joy and sorrow.

CM Sai highlighted that the rakhi symbolizes a bond of trust between the state and the families of the nation’s defenders. He pledged continued financial assistance, rehabilitation measures and social respect for these families, reinforcing that they are integral to the state’s fabric.

Addressing the wider audience, the Chief Minister lauded the decisive actions taken against Naxalism, crediting the resolve of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and central security agencies. He noted that the diminishing insurgency is transforming Bastar from a conflict zone into a hub of peace, development and cultural renaissance.

The event also launched five innovative district‑level projects—"Harit Poshanam", "Project Niramaay", "Tiranga Shakti Fest", "Project Ahigundik" and "Raipur Unfiltered"—targeting nutrition, health, cultural engagement, tribal inclusion and digital storytelling.

In a powerful visual, hundreds of women tied protective threads on the Chief Minister, who responded with heartfelt blessings for their prosperity. The ceremony underscored that safeguarding the nation is a shared duty and that honoring security personnel strengthens the moral fibre of society.
