Government Emphasizes Making Education System Quality, Transparent, and Student-Centric
Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav Holds Press Conference on Achievements of School Education Department, Presents Account of Work Over Two Years
Raipur, A press conference was organized today at the Chhattisgarh Dialogue Auditorium, Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur, to discuss the departmental activities and achievements of the School Education Department over the past two years. The press conference was jointly addressed by School Education Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav and Secretary of the School Education Department, Dr. Kamalpreet Singh. During the event, information was provided on the work and achievements of the department in various fields, including improvement in the quality of education, availability and promotion of teachers, recruitment process, facilities being provided to students, school infrastructure, multilingual education, and technology-based monitoring.
School Education Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav stated that in the past two years, the School Education Department has taken numerous significant steps towards making the education system more qualitative, transparent, technology-enabled, inclusive, and student-centric.
Rationalization of Schools and Teacher Availability
In line with the provisions of the National Education Policy-2020 and the Right to Education Act-2009, 10,538 schools have been rationalized. Through rationalization, 15,165 teachers and principals have been adjusted. Teachers have been appointed to 453 teacher-less schools and arrangements have been made for teachers in 4,729 single-teacher schools. Significant achievements have also been recorded in teacher promotions. Promotions of principals have been made to 1,335 posts in the T-category and 1,478 posts in the E-category, totaling 2,813 posts. Promotions of 1,798 lecturers in the T-category have been made, and over 7,000 promotions to various posts have occurred in the last two years.
Teacher Recruitment Gains Momentum
School Education Minister Mr. Yadav informed that 848 posts of Special Educators for children with disabilities have been sanctioned. Direct recruitment has been done for 62 posts in 2025. Direct recruitment has been conducted for 2,104 academic posts in the last two years. Additionally, the recruitment process for 5,000 teaching posts through direct recruitment is underway. Contract recruitment for over 3,000 posts in Swami Atmanand and Vivekananda schools is also in progress.
Transparent and Technology-Based Recruitment Process
Minister Mr. Yadav stated that a state-level online computer-based test (CBT) has been initiated for the recruitment of academic and non-academic contract posts in Swami Atmanand Excellent Schools, Swami Vivekananda Excellent Schools, and other government institutions. Contract recruitment is underway for a total of 3,066 posts, including 1,895 in Swami Atmanand Excellent Schools and 1,171 in Swami Vivekananda Excellent Schools. Emphasis has been placed on transparency in recruitment through CBT and providing exam results in a shorter time.
New Education Policy and Innovation in Textbooks
The National Education Policy-2020 was implemented in schools from July 15, 2024. The twelve-part Hindi alphabet (Barahkhadi) has been included in the Hindi books for classes 1 and 2. Textbooks have been developed in 16 local and 4 inter-state languages for classes 1 and 2. Adaptation of NCERT textbooks for subjects in classes 1, 2, 3, and 6 has been done. Supplementary reading material has also been developed for students from class 3 to 8.
Promoting Multilingual Education
Mr. Yadav said that Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to conduct language mapping. In Bastar division, 2,700 teachers have been trained for the use of children's languages in the classroom. In Sarguja division, 2,368 teachers have been trained. The process of creating textbooks in Chhattisgarhi, Gondi, Halbi, and Sadri for classes 1 to 3, aligned with the medium of instruction, is ongoing.
Online Attendance and Administrative Digitization
The Education Minister said that to ensure regular attendance and academic discipline of teachers, an attendance system based on Aadhaar-enabled biometrics and the Tike App has been implemented. Approximately 85 percent of teachers' online attendance is being recorded daily through the Tike App. Administrative tasks have been made simpler and more transparent through systems like the leave management portal, paperless operations, and online property statements.
Free Textbooks, Cycles, and Uniforms for Students
Mr. Yadav informed that the initiative to provide textbooks to students from classes 1 to 10 before the start of the session has benefited 45,33,261 students. A scanning system has been implemented for the distribution and verification of textbooks, and an initiative has been taken to publish textbooks in 16 dialects in addition to Hindi and English. He said that 1,62,827 girl students have benefited under the free Saraswati Cycle Scheme. Free uniforms have been provided to students from classes 1 to 8, benefiting 28,63,786 children.
Improvement in Examination Results
Education Minister Mr. Yadav stated that a nearly 2 percent increase in the examination results of classes 10th and 12th has been recorded in the academic session 2025-26. Special emphasis has been placed on improving examination results through pre-exam reviews, blueprint creation and teaching, parent-teacher meetings, and centralized examinations.
Holistic Development of Students through Saturday Bag-Free Day
Mr. Yadav said that every Saturday, activities are organized for students in a stress-free and fear-free environment, including reading and writing, along with sports, yoga, and exercise, and familiarization with local art and culture, anniversaries of great personalities, festivals, and historical dates. Continuous development of students is being emphasized through speeches, essays, songs, stories, and folk tales.
Special Emphasis on Expanding School Infrastructure
The Education Minister informed that 504 new schools have been sanctioned in the last three years. A provision for new schools for 700 school-less buildings has been made in the budget for the financial year 2026-27. Between 2023 and 2026, 2,583 new additional rooms have been sanctioned. An amount of ₹52 crore 39 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction and repair of toilets in schools, and the construction of 302 toilets has been completed.
Provision of ₹100 Crore for 150 Swami Vivekananda Excellent Schools
Mr. Yadav informed that a provision of ₹100 crore has been made in the budget for the financial year 2026-27 for the construction and operation of buildings for 150 Swami Vivekananda Excellent Schools. Efforts are being made to establish at least one Swami Vivekananda Excellent School in every development block. Emphasis is being placed on preparing students for future challenges through these schools.
Expansion of Education in Bastar and Tribal Areas
Education Minister Mr. Yadav informed that under Niyata Nella Nar, primary schools have been established in 97 percent of villages in the six districts of Bastar division. 13,817 teachers in Bastar division have been trained using bilingual books. Education is being provided through 573 education ambassadors in teacher-less and single-teacher schools. 48 closed schools have been reopened, and 36 new schools have been started.
Online Monitoring through AI-Based Vidya Samiksha Kendra
Mr. Yadav informed that an AI-based Vidya Samiksha Kendra has been established for effective online monitoring of the education system. Through this, various schemes, including infrastructure, physical facilities, PM Poshan, DIET, and SCERT, are being monitored. Feedback has been obtained from over one lakh calls from teachers, parents, cluster coordinators, and officials through the call center. Barcode-based tracking of textbook distribution has resulted in savings of approximately ₹40 crore for the government.
Residential Facilities for Students of Particularly Backward Tribes
The Education Minister informed that under the Prime Minister Janman Yojana, residential hostel facilities are being developed near schools for children of particularly backward tribes. More than 33,000 children are availing residential facilities in the 156 residential schools and hostels operating in the state. 40 PVTG hostels have been sanctioned in 13 districts, of which construction work has started for 21.
Special Focus on Overall Development of Tribal Areas
Mr. Yadav stated that under the Prime Minister Darti Aba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign, emphasis is being placed on the holistic and balanced development of tribal areas. The School Education Department is working towards ensuring the availability of quality education, school infrastructure, and hostel facilities in these areas. 42 hostels have been sanctioned in 13 districts.
Continuous Efforts Towards Further Strengthening the Education System
During the press conference, highlighting various schemes and achievements of the department, it was stated that the School Education Department is continuously striving to provide quality education with equal opportunities to every student in the state. For this, priority is being given to adequate teacher availability, transparent recruitment and promotion, modern infrastructure, multilingual education, digital technology, essential educational materials for students, and access to education in tribal and remote areas. The overarching objective of these initiatives by the School Education Department is to make the state's education system qualitative, transparent, technology-enabled, inclusive, and student-centric.
