Government Boosts EV Adoption with Fast‑Track Charging Infrastructure

To accelerate the shift toward electric mobility, Chhattisgarh will invest in a comprehensive network of EV charging stations and a common mobile application. The move aims to eliminate the current fragmentation where different service providers run independent apps, making it hard for drivers to find and pay for charging.

The initiative was approved in a meeting chaired by Secretary‑Additional Transport Commissioner S. Prakash, with inputs from the transport, energy, and district authorities as well as major oil and gas firms and telecom partners. The participants examined funding opportunities under the Prime Minister’s E‑Drive programme and the state’s own EV policy incentives.

A key outcome is the instruction to all district transport offices to earmark land for new chargers and to expedite the NOC process. The state’s CHiPS agency, already running a pilot, will coordinate the launch of the integrated platform, which will be compatible with the central government’s universal charging app.

Officials expect that an easily accessible charging grid will boost EV sales, reduce vehicular emissions and promote sustainable transport across Chhattisgarh.
