Four‑lane upgrade of Nandghat‑Mungeli road gets ₹21.81 crore funding
The state government of Chhattisgarh announced on 7 August 2026 that INR 21.81 crore has been approved for expanding the Nandghat‑Mungeli road in Bemetara district to a four‑lane (four‑lane) highway spanning 36.40 km. Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Saw signed off on the project, prompting the ministry to issue a formal notice to the chief engineer for fund release.
Minister Saw instructed that all materials used must meet the highest quality standards and that the overall execution be closely supervised. Any compromise on quality will lead to responsibility being assigned and corrective steps taken under the law.
The Public Works Department emphasized that the tendering and construction phases must be completed within the allocated time frame without unnecessary extensions. Only unavoidable circumstances, approved by a senior officer, may justify a delay, and such extensions will carry financial penalties.
The department’s directive also mandates that the contracted construction agency adhere strictly to the agreed schedule, ensuring that the project progresses efficiently and cost‑effectively.
