Government is committed to the conservation and promotion of art, culture, and cinema - Chief Minister Shri Sai Announcement of Rs 20 lakh for development works in Gidhani Path (Chura) and Rs 10 lakh for Sen Samaj Bhavan in Dhamtari Raipur, June 12, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today participated in a felicitation ceremony for documentary filmmakers, artists, and talented personalities from various fields, organized jointly by the Department of Culture and Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation in the capital Raipur. Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that films are not just a medium of entertainment, but a powerful art form that guides the thinking, culture, and sensibilities of society. A good film creates awareness in society and paves the way for positive change. Indian cinema has played an important role in social change from time to time. He said that films like 'Mother India' have strengthened the spirit of moral values, sacrifice, and self-respect in Indian society. The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarhi cinema has a glorious history. The first Chhattisgarhi film 'Kahi Debe Sandesh' gave a meaningful message against social evils. Today, films from Chhattisgarh (Chhollywood) are setting new dimensions of commercial success along with entertainment. He said that with the expansion of digital and OTT platforms, films have reached every section of society, and in such a situation, promoting responsible, positive, and value-based cinema is the need of the hour. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is continuously striving to give a new identity to the Chhattisgarhi film industry and provide opportunities to local talents. In this direction, the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation has been reactivated. He informed that the foundation stone of Chitrautpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Center, to be built at a cost of Rs 150 crore, was laid in January this year. This project will boost film production activities in the state, provide employment opportunities to thousands of artists, technicians, and workers, and give new momentum to film tourism. Congratulating the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation and the Department of Culture for the event, the Chief Minister said that this is a commendable initiative towards promoting the art, culture, and cinema of the state. Such felicitation ceremonies boost the morale of artists and creators and also inspire the new generation. A special screening of the Chhattisgarhi documentary film "Chhattisgarh Ka Bheem - Chintaram", honored in 11 countries, was also held during the program. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai also extended birthday wishes to the Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, Ms. Mona Sen. On this occasion, he announced Rs 20 lakh for various development works in Gidhani Path located in the Chura area of Gariaband district and Rs 10 lakh for the construction of Sen Samaj Bhavan in Dhamtari. On this occasion, the state president of Sarv Sen Samaj, Shri Punit Sen, veteran filmmaker Shri Mohan Sundrani, producers, directors, artists associated with the Chhattisgarh film industry, and a large number of dignitaries were present.
