Field Monitoring Required: Officials to Spend Two Days Weekly on Site

The Public Works Department secretary, Mukesh Kumar Bansal, issued a clear instruction that every field officer must be present at construction sites for at least two days every week. The directive was part of a broader review of Bilaspur division projects on August 20, 2026.

During the session, senior engineers were urged to adopt a proactive mindset, ensuring that all stages—from cost estimation to tender finalisation—are completed on time. The secretary highlighted that constant on‑site supervision will help maintain the quality of roads, bridges and building works.

All approved projects whose tenders have been cleared are to start by October, with the department keeping a tight watch on both progress speed and workmanship standards. Immediate repair of monsoon‑affected infrastructure was also ordered to keep traffic flowing safely.

The secretary asked engineers to work closely with district collectors and sub‑division magistrates to resolve land‑acquisition and title‑transfer matters within one month. Completed works must be handed over to the respective departments without further delay, and existing departmental buildings must be kept clean and well‑maintained.
