Farming in the state is in full swing, 69% sowing completed in 33.50 lakh hectares
With the onset of monsoon, farming activities are in full swing in the state. As of July 22, 69 percent of the sowing target has been achieved in 33.50 lakh hectares of the state. A target of sowing in 48.69 lakh hectares has been set for this Kharif season.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai's instructions: Farmers should get fertilizers and seeds easily
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed the concerned officials to provide all necessary support to farmers for their farming activities. He has asked to distribute certified fertilizers and seeds to the farmers smoothly according to their demand. He has also instructed to take strict action against any negligence in the fertilizer and seed distribution system. He has also asked to store sufficient fertilizers and seeds in the societies and monitor them continuously. Under the guidance of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, officials of the agriculture department are continuously monitoring these.
9.22 lakh metric tons of fertilizer and 4.12 lakh quintals of certified seeds distributed to farmers
Agriculture department officials stated that so far 9.22 lakh metric tons of fertilizer and 4.12 lakh quintals of certified seeds have been distributed to the farmers of the state. Officials informed that with the monsoon showers, the area under sowing in farming activities is continuously increasing in the state. Sowing of various crops like paddy, maize, Kodon, Kutki, Arhar, Moong, Groundnut, Ramtil, etc., has been completed in 33.50 lakh hectares in the state so far, which is 69 percent of the target. The state government has set a target of sowing in 48.69 lakh hectares in this Kharif season.
Average rainfall of 389.7 mm recorded so far in the state: State's average annual rainfall 1246.3 mm
Officials informed that as of the morning of July 22, an average rainfall of 389.7 mm has been recorded in the state so far, while the state's average annual rainfall is 1246.3 mm. It is noteworthy that the average recorded rainfall based on the average rainfall of the districts over the last 10 years is 421.5 mm. Whereas the rainfall on today's date during the reported period is 33.5 mm.
4.12 lakh quintals of seeds distributed to farmers
Officials stated that for Kharif 2026, the Seed Corporation has set a target of distributing 4.95 lakh quintals of certified seeds in the state. Against this, 4.70 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored, and so far 4.12 lakh quintals of seeds have been distributed to farmers, which is 83 percent of the demand. Last year, 4.11 lakh quintals of certified seeds were distributed during the same period.
Similarly, a target of distributing 15.55 lakh metric tons of fertilizers has been set for this Kharif season in the state. Against this target, 14.57 lakh metric tons of fertilizers have been stored in cooperative and private sectors. Out of this stock, 9.22 lakh metric tons of fertilizers have been distributed to farmers, which is 59 percent of the target.
Free short-term agricultural loans of Rs 6633.71 crore to needy farmers
Officials informed that the state government is providing short-term agricultural loans through Kisan Credit Cards to facilitate farmers in their farming activities. As of July 21 for the current Kharif season 2026, loans worth Rs 6633.71 crore have been distributed, while last year during the same period, loans worth Rs 5560.34 crore were distributed. This year, the target is to distribute Rs 8800 crore in loans to farmers.
