Farasgaon tehsildar’s assistant arrested after bribery sting

A high‑profile anti‑corruption operation in Chhattisgarh’s Farasgaon tehsil resulted in the arrest of the tehsildar’s assistant, Muhkesh Rangari. The official was apprehended while receiving a ₹10,000 payment—the third instalment of a larger ₹70,000 bribe linked to a name‑change request in revenue documents. The complainant, a resident of Patla village, had earlier been forced to part with ₹35,000 in two installments. Upon filing a grievance with the ACB, investigators verified the allegation, set a surveillance trap, and captured the clerk the moment the cash changed hands. The seized funds have been retained as evidence, and the ACB is currently examining the tehsil’s records for any further involvement by senior officers. Legal proceedings under the Prevention of Corruption Act have commenced.
